Ever since he was a child, Ace was well aware of the hold luck and chance have in his life. He has worked hard to overcome his troubling past and to refine his reckless ways, and with friends to guide and support him, the task is finally becoming easier. Aside from a love of gambling, Ace enjoys playing the guitar and learning the skills of the sword; his sword aptly named Blackjack. Overall, Ace can still be very reckless and is very curious, but he is also very determined and protective of those he cares for.

In Chronicle 1, a 9-year-old Michaelis (mi-KAY-lis) is already showing an uncanny ability for card playing, as well as a growing inability to accept loss. A series of events that would forever change his life gives him his famed nickname “Ace”.

By Chronicle 2, now 15 years old, Ace has little guidance in his life and works himself into a very confused state, beginning to pick-pocket and steal as well as gamble to survive. A growing pain in his chest and crippling fits of coughing plagues his daily life. It was at this point he meets some of his best friends who would come to help him more than he would ever realize. He soon develops a romantic interest in Athena Harlequin.

Athena was born into a gypsy tribe, but she was given to David and Helena Dralcon as a young girl to escape a life of exile. Despite this rough past she remains positive and lives life a day at a time. She is very caring and mindful of others, but she is often unsure of herself and can get defensive. Athena enjoys dancing and singing, and is quite adept with her sword Minerva. Overall, Athena may be fragile, but she can be very bold when she wants to be.

In Chronicle 2, a 15-year-old Athena is first seen dancing in the street for money—a position she was often forced into in order to make a living. Meeting a network of friends has not only helped her, but also those now with her. As time passes, Athena quickly develops a desire to protect the reckless gambler Ace Gallagher, and she soon develops romantic feelings towards him as well.

Dawn is the daughter of an innkeeper and has therefore lived and worked in Velia’s Aquilline Tavern most of her life. After years of helping people, Dawn is very outgoing, hard-working, and genuinely friendly, yet the monotony has given her a bit of a rebellious streak. She has a deep passion for art and painting, and also has an appreciation for music. Dawn owns a felavis named Gitanna, and often finds the most solace in being in her presence. Overall, Dawn is independent, curious, and often rebellious, but she is kind and enjoys helping others.

Chronicle 4, an 18-year-old Dawn is in a constant struggle against her father as she tries to keep up with the tavern’s upkeep. She comes across a group of friends, and from their kindness she longs for a different life. The life she runs into, however, is not entirely what she was expecting.

Dorian

Much of Dorian's past is still a mystery, and although he is slowly opening up to his friends, the fog over his youth has not yet lifted. What is known paints Dorian as a silent, hard-working individual whose trust is hard to come by. He is fairly skilled in potion-making and in using just about any weapon given to him—although his weapon of choice is a long staff. Dorian also enjoys playing the saxophone. Overall, Dorian is quiet and cautious, but very strong and resourceful to those he trusts.

In Chronicle 2, a 16-year-old Dorian meets Ace by literally running into him, and continues to tag along as their gathering grows into a network of close friends. Although there was uncertainty at whose side he was on, Dorian soon proves his loyalty to his friends in a way no word could ever say.

In Chronicle 4, now 18 years old, a major piece of Dorian's past is revealed, unexpectedly leading the entire group into a very different adventure. Dorian is the orphaned Prince of Kalgara and must fight to regain his throne from the Valian Princess occupying it.

While he may be laid-back in nature, Ed can be quite the character when given the chance. Ed usually doesn't know or care what side he is on, and often prefers it that way; but this ambivalence tends to come back to haunt him. Unfortunately for Ed, his love for drinking and having a good time is also an effective means of getting himself into trouble, much to his younger brother's dismay. Ed also enjoys writing and playing the drums. Overall, Ed is artistic and nonchalant, but he can be very blunt and distracted as well.

In Chronicle 3, a 21-year-old Ed is employed as a Dark Rider in the service of Spades, and, as luck would have it, ends up being the rider to apprehend Ace Gallagher. During this time he begins to question where his loyalties lie, and in the process, meets his own loyal group of friends.

Mioko's origins are unknown even to him, aside from his long, pointed ears signifying his bloodline is that of the ancient Lluevens. Mioko has an inability to stay in one place for very long, and his deep love of music soon made his occupation as a traveling bard ideal. He sometimes dabbles in potion-making and spell casting, although a backfiring potion cursed him to be bound to a small yellow crystal he now wears around his neck. Mioko can play the flute, piano, or just about anything else set before him. Overall, Mioko is inherently curious of the unknown and is a very sensitive, yet caring individual.

In Chronicle 2, an 18-year-old Mioko is first seen playing his flute on the side of the road. He later displays the power of his crystal, which uses his own energy to create a beam he can wield, as well as allowing him to transfer energies or weaknesses to and from his own body. He develops a strong romantic interest in Raeya of Amorfia, which blossoms in to much more within no time at all.

By the end of Chronicle 3, now 19 years old, Mioko marries Raeya when she realizes she is pregnant with his child.

Raeya of Amorfia

Raeya was born as a child of custom in a time when Amorfian numbers were slowly dwindling. As an infant, she was given the marking of her family on her left cheek, and she was betrothed to another young Amorfian when she was scarcely 5 years of age. As an Amorfian, Raeya possesses the ability to transform into any creature she wishes, using this quality mostly for stealth and flight. This gives her a very secretive and mysterious nature; however, she is very dependent on others, whether she wishes to show it or not. Overall, Raeya is shy and introverted, but can be deeply caring when she gains another’s trust.

In Chronicle 2, a 17-year-old Raeya struggles to survive in a human city while searching for Hylas, her betrothed. She tries to rob Mioko but is quickly thwarted, only to return to the same group of friends in desperation when Hylas proves to be disloyal. Her path is soon intwined into the others’, and very quickly develops a romantic relationship with Mioko.

By the end of Chronicle 3, now 18 years old, Raeya is forced to separate herself from the rest of the Amorfians when her love for a human makes her an outcast to the tribe. She and Mioko are married when she discovers she is pregnant with his child.

Vance’s eyesight faded as a young boy, and he must wear glasses in order to see properly. He is more refined than his elder brother and is generally cautious and almost over-protective of him. He is dedicated to his work, whether it be looking out for his brother, working at his daily job, or composing music. He is a talented organist and is quite intelligent, though he often finds himself speaking before thinking. Overall, Vance may be anxious and almost rude at times, but he is responsible and dedicated to his work, his friends, and his family.

In Chronicle 3, Vance is 19 years old and works behind the bar in the Fortanya Tavern. He keeps watch over his often embarrassing brother, but welcomes a few more companions when they arrive at his doorstep.
